
Janis Davis, age 87, of Providence Point, died on Sunday, September 14, 2025. Janis is survived by her daughter, Margaret Ann O'Brien; her son, Robert O'Brien (Tara) and their sons, (Tommy and Danny); and son, Terrence (T.J.) O'Brien, his former wife, Julie, and their children, Jack and William. Also survived by Robert Davis's children, Bruce (Melissa) and their children, Kelly and Kevin (Kaitlin); daughter, Betsy Hohlfelder (Alan) and their children, Erin Hohfelder (Ian McCollum) and Ben (Alyssa); Carol Keller (Bill) and their children, Janis traveled the country to participate in duplicate bridge tournaments, achieving Bronze Life Master status. Beverly G. Cassidy, 95, of Monroeville, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2025. Beverly is survived by her two daughters, Shauna Cassidy Frantz and Laura Cassidy; along with son-in-law, George Hoffman of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She is also survived by three cherished grandchildren: Evan Schall, Ryan Schall, and Julie Cassidy. A retired nuclear engineer, Beverly was known for her boundless energy and deep love for her family. She had a lifelong passion for playing bridge that she continued to enjoy until her final days. Graham Whitlow passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 20, 2025. He had been living in Fort Myers Florida since he retired (including through the hurricane a couple of years ago), but before that Steve Nolan used to play with him at Jimmy Klein's Tuesday evening game and at Sue Golier's game in Oakmont/O'Hara Township. Mary Doyle Taylor, passed away June 3, 2025. Mary started playing bridge in 2014 and it was the first time she had played cards of any sort. Over the years she had several regular partners, the most recent being Alice Hand. Mary faithfully attended the NLM games at Beth El. She also enjoyed bridge cruises and playing in tournaments. Mary is survived by her husband of 48 years, R. Steven Taylor, as well as 6 siblings and a number of nieces and nephews.
Paul Ellis Caplan, 76, of White Oak, passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2025. He was born December 1, 1948, and was the son of the late Joseph S. and Joan (Rosenberg) Caplan. Paul attended the University of Tennessee and worked as a retail manager for many years. He was also a Life Master of the American Contract Bridge League and a bridge teacher. He also loved model trains, puzzles and games. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Catherine Shaw Caplan; brothers, Jay Caplan, David Caplan and Lee Caplan; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Carol Ann Kann died recently. She was 88. She was a graduate of Saint Francis School of Nursing. Carol is survived by her 3 children
Bruce Brennan died February 27 at age 83. Bruce career spanned 37 years with PPG Industries…… including 6 years in Paris. He is survived by his wife, Kathy, and 2 sons.
There wiil be a celebration of his left April 12 from 12-2 at Maxon Towers 6315 Forbes Ave., Squirrel Hill. All are invited.
Marta Sciulli died January 24. She was the sister of member Bernie (Thalia) Fudor. She was known by all for her compassion, her love of family, her generosity and her kindness.
Annabelle Joseph died November 19. She was the mother of (members) the late Lou Joseph and sister of the late Herb Sachs. A graduate of CMU with a doctorate from Duquesne University, she was a concert pianist. She taught Eurhythmics, lecturing around the world.
Bob Brand died January 5. He was the husband of (member) the late Sandra Brand. Bob was co-owner of Enamel Products and Plating Company …. a steel and aluminum processing company. Sandi and he were both active in the Rodef Shalom Temple.
Kathleen Susa died December 28. She was the sister of member Carol Stonis. Kathy taught at Highlands School District for 34 years.
Jack Hammer (member) died November 17. Jack’s career included 29 years at Westinghouse, followed by an additional years at Mitsubishi.
Albert Dennis Muia died November 19. He was the brother of (members) Gus Costanzo and Ron Kust. After an early career as a pilot for Allegheny Airlines, he was the President and owner of Muia Financial Corporation for 48 years.
Nancy Swensen, MD (member) died November 11. At an early age, Nancy dreamed of becoming a doctor. She was 1 of 2 women in her graduating class of 83 students in 1959. Her dedication and accomplishments were remarkable.
Bill Lindgren (member) died August 24. He was a math professor at Slippery Rock University for 44 years. After retiring, he split his time between Pittsburgh and Tucson.
Ida Gleeson (member) died August 20. She played weekly at Laurie West. She retired from a teaching career. She will be remembered for bringing cookies to the bridge game, confessing that they were baked by her husband.
Deborah Simak died July 28. She was the daughter of deceased member Vince Simak.
Patricia Evans (member) died September 12. Patricia was a Pitt grad.
