This September, at the Pittsburgh Regional tournament at the Meadowlands Doubletree, the Pittsburgh Bridge Association is sponsoring Robert Todd for a full week of entertaining Bridge lessons and play.
Robert is young, hip, and a tremendous speaker on the subject of Bridge. He is a professional player, President of the ACBL Educational Foundation (a well-deserved position), and the founder of Adventures in Bridge. Robert will be running 5 days of bridge instruction for a variety of skill levels. Each lesson includes Lecture, Q&A, Bidding/Play, and followup discussions.
Learn & Play Track Schedule
- Bridge 101 with Robert Todd: Learn & Play Series on Tuesday and Wednesday, September 15-16. Lessons at 10:00 in the morning. 99er game at 2:30. Includes 2 lessons and 2 games. For graduates of a beginning bridge class and social players.
Lesson topics include:
- Comptetitive bidding: Overcalls and advancing them (followup bidding)
- Takeout doubles and advancing them (followup bidding)
- Bridge 201 with Robert Todd: Learn & Play Series on Thursday and Friday, September 17-18. Lessons at 10:00 in the morning. 299er game at 2:30. Includes 2 lessons and 2 games. For intermediate players, graduates of bridge 101, and social players. Lesson topics include:
- Improve your declarer play -- Finesses and so much more
- Improve your defense -- opening leads, signals, and discards
- Fun Intro to Bridge: Join Robert Todd on Saturday, September 19th at 10:00 and 2:30 for a fun introduction to bridge. Learn trick taking and bidding fundamentals.
Typically Robert Todd seminars are available for upwards of $200 for a 2-day event, but the Pittsburgh Bridge Association is underwriting his appearance – and a 2-day Learn & Play series is just $64 ($16 per session). I’ve had the chance to listen to Robert speak about Bridge several times and he is well worth the listen. He is informative … and endlessly entertaining. I encourage all who are interested in improving their Bridge game to attend the appropriate sessions.
If you have friends who might like to dip their toes in this fabulous game, encourage them to attend the Saturday session. And Thursday Evening we are also offering a ‘Bridge Battle’ session, allowing those unfamiliar with Bridge to battle taking tricks without the complexity of the auction. Part of the ‘Come Play Cards with Us’ for all card players and all card games.
