A special thank you to the Export Moose Bridge Club. They were the first venue of our Unit Board’s initiative to rotate Bi-Monthly Board Meetings to club games. It is important that members have the opportunity to directly give input to how best the Board can serve the membership. We enjoyed excellent hospitality, received valuable input and the opportunity to have the players meet the Board Members. Our next Board Meeting will be at Rodef on May 22nd.
I especially enjoyed the social interaction at the Export site and had the opportunity to see friends that I have not seen in awhile. I often play on BBO but “face to face” bridge is amazing in a friendly environment. I urge all Unit players to make an effort to participate in our Club and Unit games.

Lessons are ongoing in several locations. New beginner lessons pending:
- Wednesday afternoon Beginner classes at LaRoche College in the North Hills begin Wednesday, May 21. Lorraine Hanna, Todd Hertzberg, and Bill Holt will lead. At-table volunteers will be needed – and there are no clearances necessary. It is fun to see the light bulb go off in their eyes when they learn the game!
- An Evening class for beginners at the Monroeville Public Library will commence Monday Night, May 12th. Chris Rasmussen will lead. Barb Belardi is assembling a list of folks who would like to join her in helping out. We’d like to hear from you East-enders to fill the at-table helper roles! So contact Barb, or Bill Holt, if you’d like to have some fun teaching newbies.
- Lorraine Hanna continues teaching in Treesdale, her class schedule information is on the website
- Phyllis Geinzer and her team are continuing sessions Wednesday night – one week at the Mt. Lebanon Library, with Supervised Play at the Galleria on the alternate Wednesdays. Click here for more information.
- And the Sewickley YMCA lessons are also ongoing. Details on the website.
- Supervised play at Glenshaw is now EVERY Thursday night at 6:30, with a mini lesson chat at 6:15. It’s FREE, and open to Students, Beginners, Novices – anyone who would like to improve their Bridge game in a fun, friendly, no-pressure setting.
We have some momentum going, and we intend to keep it up.
